The Church Pianist III & IV

MUS 226 | 1 Credit Hour
Hymn playing techniques are advanced with a focus on right hand patterns and transposing hymns. Instruction is given in the area of creating and playing offertories, as well as the art of accompanying soloists, small musical groups, and choirs. Consideration will also be given to the pianist’s part in special services such as revival meetings, funerals, and weddings.

The Church Pianist I & II

An introduction to congregational hymn playing with a focus on the pianist’s attitude, etiquette, song selection, preludes, and invitations. Also the development of the student’s hymn playing skills with a focus on left hand patterns.
