EDE 450 | 9 Credit Hours Nine weeks of internship in an off-campus Christian day school involving observations, participation, conferences, teaching, classroom management, planning, and evaluation.
Teaching Math
EDE 401 | 2 Credit Hours Discussion of current methods and trends in teaching mathematics in the elementary classroom with practical instruction in approaches and methods of teaching math in the elementary classroom. Students will produce units of instruction and daily lesson plans.
Teaching Science and Health
EDE 315 | 2 Credit Hours Methods and materials on the elementary level for teaching a Biblical, creation-based approach to science and health. General review of scientific principles is included.
Teaching Bible
EDE 307 | 2 Credit Hours Principles of teaching Bible in a variety of settings with an emphasis on teaching for heart and life application.
Teaching Art
EDE 305 1 Credit Hour Creative art activity, theory, methods, and age-suitability of various materials. Introduction to craft work, materials, and methods. The psychology of understanding and motivating children.
Teaching Grammar and Composition
EDE 303 | 2 Credit Hours Methods and ideas for teaching both grammar and composition in the elementary classroom. A particular emphasis will be placed on integrating grammar and composition instruction.
Teaching History and Social Studies
EDE 213 | 2 Credit Hours A study of the methods and materials for teaching social studies and history at the elementary level.
Teaching Handwriting
EDE 204 | 1 Credit Hour Practical experience working with common handwriting methods. Ideas for teaching and implementing handwriting in the classroom are shared.
Teaching Spelling
EDE 203 | 1 Credit Hour A review of all spelling rules tested by a competency exam. Ideas and methods for teaching spelling in the elementary classroom.
Teaching Reading
EDE 202 | 2 Credit Hours A history of phonics instruction and a discussion of modern teaching methodology with critical analysis in the light of biblical principles. Also, preparation for teaching and evaluating reading groups, phonics, and class reading.
